10 Homemade Acne Treatments Acne never picks the right time to rear its ugly head. (Wait, there really isn't a right time, is there?) Most times you just want to start to treat the pimple instead of running out to the store to find an acne treatment.

Don't worry if you don't have any spot treatments on hand, just go to your pantry or medicine cabinet, and chances are good you'll find one of these homemade acne treatments so you can use to kick-start the process of healing. Who knew it was this easy?

Toothpaste

Dab a bit of white cream toothpaste on your pimple and it will dry it up much quicker. If you put it on before you go to bed, it can do its work while you sleep. If you find your pimple in the morning and you're just hanging out at home, go ahead and apply it during the day; just don't leave home with a big white spot on your face!

Visine Eye Drops

While this won't heal your pimple, it will instantly get rid of the redness. Just put a drop on your finger or a Q-tip and hold it on for a few seconds.

Neosporin

This is an antibiotic, which will help kill the bacteria that causes acne. Apply before bed and your pimple will have a much shorter life.

Honey

Honey has antibacterial properties to it that make it perfect for a gentle and natural acne healer. If acne is a regular problem, you can use this for a weekly mask.

Baking Soda

To make a baking soda paste, add a couple drops of water at a time to a small scoop of baking soda. When it's as thick as a paste, go ahead and apply it to your pimple and let it dry before rinsing off. You can also use it as a gentle all over body or face scrub.

Garlic

Garlic not only contains antibiotics to heal your acne, but it also contains anti-inflammatory properties to reduce the swelling. Sure, it may not smell the best, but it works!

Alum

You can get Alum in a block, pencil, or even in the spice aisle at the grocery store. It's a white powder that works wonders against not only acne, but also canker sores as well.

Potatoes

Cut a slice of white potato and hold it over your pimple for a good 5 to 7 minutes. This will help with the redness, swelling and healing of your pimple.

Ice Cubes

Again, this is not going to heal your pimple faster, but it's a quick fix when it comes to concealing it right before you head out. Leave it on for a good minute or two to reduce swelling and redness.

Crushed Aspirin

Take an aspirin and carefully crush it. Add a few drops of water to make a paste and apply just to your pimples. Leave it on until it has dried thoroughly, and then wash your face with warm water. This will shorten the life of your pimple.
