Essential oils are stemed from plants and have been around for thousands of years. The essential oils are garnered from the seeds, leaves, roots, and even the skins of the plants. The oils are what gives plants and flowers its fragrances. Essential oils are extremely beneficial for the skin. Essential oils are reinvigorating agents in that they facilitate the elimination of waste and dead cells and promote regeneration of new healthy cells. Added to a carrier oils such as avocado, olive and sweet almond, the oils are moisturizing, nourishing and a protector by helping the skin gaining its natural moisture.

Essential oils are like the missing link for the skin due to their high antioxidant qualities. These antioxidant qualities fight the free radicals that are floating around in our environment, and in exact help prevent free radicals from penetrating our skins.

Essential Oils perforate the surface of the skin, going to the basal layer where new skin cells are being formed. They incite the skin’s metabolism, help form healthy cells and strengthen collagen and elastin fibres as well as the cells themselves. The most popular essential oils for skin care is sandalwood. It is a great oil for acne and skin infections in general. Use a teaspoon full of betonite clay, about half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 5 drops of sandalwood.

Mix all this together and add more clay or vinegar to get a creamy consistency. Apply this all over your face and neck and let sit for 5 mins at least. Doing this at least once a week should give you great results. Palmarosa oil is well known for it’s moisturizing and hydrating properties as well as it’s actualize ability to stimulate cell regeneration. This is also one of the oils which can be used straightly on the skin without worry so there is very little issue of using too much. Jasmine, Neroli and Rose Otto are great essential oils for skin care.

These are good for all types of skin but specially for mature and aging skin. Other oils good carrier oils for your skin are Hazelnut oil, Sesame oil , Wheat germ oil and Vitamin E. The Wheat germ and Vitamin E should be mixed with other carrier oils as only minute amounts of these are required.
