8 Tips to Take Control of Your Weight

8 Tips to Take Control of Your WeightAnyone who is overweight will testify that losing weight is not as easy as it seems. The people that are lean, or have gone from fat to skinny will say it’s just a matter of motivation and elbow grease. Although it is not as simple as that. Our environments have waged war on us. Their weapons are sedentary lives and Trans fats of mass destruction. All is not lost though, here are some quick simple tips to get ahead!

1. Substitute Water.
Our bodies are about 65-70% water. It follows that water would be not only essential, but the best possibly choice of liquids to ingest. In fact, our bodies will sometimes simulate a hunger response, when in reality the body is craving hydration. When hungry, drink a glass or two of water to check if it suppresses your hunger.

2. Chew Your Food.
Chewing our food very slowly and deliberately has several benefits that are often overlooked. It gives us the ability to relax, and enjoy our meal. Slow chewing is the first, and highly important, step in a complex system of digestion. Besides, if we eat slowly, we might feel full before finishing the whole meal, and can leave the rest for the next meal.

3. Exercise daily.
How silly of me to include something as obvious as exercise. I did a 30 day trial with waking up, and walking for 30 minutes first thing in the morning. My journal records that I was feeling amazing during the period of time that I was following this habit

4. Publicize your intentions.
Start a blog, join a forum, and have other people keep you accountable to help. Tell other people your plan, it would help you get the motivation to go with it!

5. Create a food schedule.
Plan your day so that you’re eating at approximately the same time each day. This scheduling will incorporate itself into your circadian rhythm, and aid in digestion.

6. Do not over eat.
Know your limit and stop eating when you are full. I have often been a victim of wanting to finish a meal so that it doesn’t go to waste. This has left me with many a stomach ache. Next time, doggy bag it for later, and don’t hurt yourself!

7.Choose your snacks wisely.
Put down the Lays® and cheese puffs. Pick up the apple and baby carrots. Make the right decision, I know you can do it

8.Lifestyle.
Remember, it’s not about special diets, or special exercise programs. The real secret is in turning your health into a lifestyle, and focusing on this healthy lifestyle with every choice you make

How to Get Rid Of Cellulite, Naturally.

How to Get Rid Of Cellulite, Naturally.Cellulite is dreaded by every woman. It lurks under your skin and manifests itself every time you eat an ice cream or junk-food. Cellulites are not inherited. It doesn’t come with age. It is possible to banish cellulite from your body. Diet and exercise alone can rid you of your cellulite problem.

The three things necessary to ensure that you have shape which you can be proud of are, balanced diet, exercise and strength training. It is simple mathematics: you are what you eat and what you burn.

Diet is the first step towards removing cellulites for ever. It is not necessary to avoid all those foods which taste good. You should only exercise some moderation. If you take a cookie or a two every day, it’s okay, not seven or eight.

Good dietary regimen should take away fat and shouldn’t add more calories. It should have carbs, protein and not more than 15% fat. So eat food which is balanced. Try to eat white foods like white rice or white bread and opt for brown foods, like brown rice. Add lots of vegetables to your diet.

One third of your meal should comprise of lean proteins like chicken or turkey, fish and the balance should be vegetables. While eating, moderation is the keyword. Before taking a helping again, consult your body to know whether it is full or not.

Next, Strength training helps get rid of cellulite. Even if you melt fat, cellulites can show up if there are no muscles under your skin. With good muscular build, you can present a better look, apart from burning your fat better. When we say Strength training, you don’t have to go to a gym; you can do it at home. Resistance bands and weights available in any sports outlets can help you.

Lastly, without exercise you are never going to get rid of cellulites. Aerobic workouts are good for burning away fat. You can do it at home. If you can indulge in any activity which can raise your heart rate, it can do you good. It may be walking, running, tennis or whatever else that keeps you on the move, and gives your heart rate a small boost.

Spa treatment at home

Spa treatment at homeSPA AT HOME

A spa treatment makes you feel new. Create the magic of spa in your bathroom with a few important accessories.

Your spa accessories

Before you start a spa session at home, you will need a few important things. Check the list against your bathroom. Having a bath tub may require all the things. Find what is ideal for your bathroom and you.

* Get some essential oils. Buy the ones you like and need
* Buy bath salts or make your own
* Pick natural soaps
* Get a loofah or a back brush
* Keep massage cream and scrubs ready
* Set aside your favourite towels or bath robe
* Buy some perfumed candles or tea lights
* Collect some rose petals
* Buy a rose water bottle
* Order some fresh milk

Bathroom to Spa

Before you step in for a bath, you have to prepare your bathroom for the ultimate spa experience. Gather all the stuff on your list. Clear the clutter. Keep the towels on a reachable distance. Place creams, scrubs, soaps, Loofah or brushes on a shelf. Add bath salts or essentials oils to your bathing water. Now place the candles at different places and light them up. If you have tea lights then light them and pour drops of aroma oils in them. You will see the aura of your bathroom transforming right in front of your eyes.

If you have a tub

If you are one of those lucky ones who have a tub in the bathroom, make the most of it. Fill up the tub with a little more than lukewarm water. Pour drops of aromatherapy oils or mentioned table spoons of bath salts as per your liking. Pour some bubble bath liquid in it. Drop some rose petals in the foamy water. You are set for a skin deep dip.

The spa treatment at home

Keep all spa accessories near you. Wear a shower cap. Sit on a tool and start massaging your body with the massaging cream. Once the cream is soaked into your skin, close your eyes and meditate for five minutes. Now use the scrub on your body. Pay attention to toes, knees and elbows. Let it stay for fifteen minutes and once the scrub starts drying pour water on your body.

Use the natural soap on your body and move the loofah in circular motions on your body. Scrub your back and heels with a brush. This helps exfoliate the skin. Once you are done, wash away. Step out of the bathroom and lather on some fresh smelling moisturiser with a few drops of aromatherapy oils. Wear something comfortable and set your creative visualization to work. Begin to de-stress your mind now. Be careful if you do not wish to sleep.

If you have a tub you can take a Cleopatra dip. Pour a litre of milk in the bath tub. People with oily skin can replace it with lemon or rose water. Follow the entire procedure of massaging and scrubbing. Now step into the tub and sink into the pool of beauty. Stay there for at least half an hour. Read a book, play some lilting music or simply meditate while your skin rejuvenates. Once done, wrap into a towel and apply water based or natural ingredient based moisturiser. Dab on some essential oil.

Had a hard day today? Treat yourself like a queen and you will feel like one. Create a spa like experience in your bathroom and bathing will no more be just about scrubbing behind the ears.

Tips for Weight Lose

Tips for Weight LoseThe summer is at its peak, and even though you love swimming, you haven’t gone swimming even once all through the season, just because you can’t fit into that favorite swimsuit of yours.

If you have gained weight and you look ugly in your swimsuit, with your belly fat bulging out, then here’s how you can get back into shape with some minor changes in your diet and by adding in some exercise into your daily routine.

The moment most women hear the words dieting and weight loss, all they can think about is the sweets and the high carbohydrate delicacies that they will have to forgo. And in an instant they decide they do not want to go on a diet, because the idea of depriving themselves of the pleasures of eating seems too frustrating.

However, going on a diet to lose weight doesn’t mean that you have to give up your favorite foods all together. Move forward with a two pronged approach of reorganizing your diet to eat healthy and of exercising on a regular basis, and you will easily achieve your weight loss goals without any feelings of frustration.

Give up your laziness, and get going with some physical activities that you enjoy. You don’t necessarily have to follow regular workout sessions at the gym; rather you can practice any physical activity that you love doing. For better results, and continued positive motivation get onto some activity with your friends or some family members, where you can burn the extra calories while enjoying each other’s company.

You can choose absolutely anything that is fun and exciting, as long as it is capable of burning some calories. Based on your personal preferences and your current health status, you can choose anything ranging from the gentler aerobics to intense physical workouts.

The last and most important point I would love to stress on is that you need to reorganize your eating habits from now on. Add more fruits and vegetables to your everyday diet, because they’re not just nourishing but also filling.

As far as your favorite foods and sweets are concerned, you don’t need to give them up entirely. You can have almost anything, but with the only condition that whatever you eat has to be in moderation.

How to Remove Underarm Hair

How to Remove Underarm Hair Whether or not you wear sleeveless dresses, removing underarm hair is quite important for a number of reasons. Firstly, of course, it isn’t very aesthetically pleasing to see a thick growth of hair under the arms ruining your overall appeal, especially with sleeveless dresses. Apart from the aesthetic point of view, this hair growth causes some other problems as the sweat remains trapped in the hair thus helping the odor causing bacteria to survive and flourish in your armpits.

How to remove underarm hair growth

This is one question that confuses most women, as to what method of hair removal is best to remove underarm hair. You have varied choices such as shaving, waxing, electrolysis, hair removal creams, plucking and laser hair removal. Some of these methods are a bit painful, and there are others which may be too expensive. For instance plucking is quite a painful and a time consuming method.

On the other hand laser and electrolysis are somewhat expensive; and not every woman can really afford the high cost. Hair removing creams can scar the delicate skin. So now you’re just left with two options, so you can either shave off your underarm hair or you can get them waxed.

Waxing vs. Shaving

Both these methods have been used for under arm hair removal for a very long time. Most women find shaving an easier and quick method; however it is something that needs to be done on a very regular basis as the new hair growth is usually prickly and quite uncomfortable. Underarm waxing is a somewhat better way out, and although it may be a little painful, the effects are somewhat long lasting and you may not have to go in for another session for the next few weeks.

The best part of underarm waxing is that the new growth is usually scant and much softer. Also, most women suffer a few cuts, here and there, when shaving, which definitely does not happen in the case of waxing.

Home Remedies for Pimple Scars

Home Remedies for Pimple Scars Make a paste of sandalwood powder and rosewater to be left overnight on the scars. Even a paste of sandalwood and black gram paste works wonders in removing acne scars. If you suffer from dark acne scars, you can use lemon juice to remove the scars.

Before applying lemon juice, you just have to clean the scars with warm water. Then dab a teaspoon of lemon juice on cotton ball to be applied on the scars. Leave this for ten to fifteen minutes and see the results.

However with this treatment, it is important that you wear some sunscreen before going into the sun as lemon juice can make your skin photosensitive.

A mixture of cucumber and lemon juice, or honey with lemon juice is also effective in removing acne scars. However this option is not advised to those having oily skin.

Another effective homemade remedy to remove acne scars is a paste of gram flour, turmeric, lemon juice and curds. Leave this mixture on for about ten to twenty minutes and you will see the difference.

A mixture of a tablespoon of yogurt, sour cream and grinded oatmeal with a few drops of lemon juice is also effective in treating scars if left on your face for ten minutes and then rinsed.
Paste of Turmeric and lemon works GREAT on scars !!!

Tips to Help Keep Your Face Looking Younger

Tips to Help Keep Your Face Looking YoungerEverybody wants to look younger and with the huge variety of face care products on the market, there is sure to be something to suit your need. Wrinkles and wisdom lines are the signs of you getting older and older. However, there are certain tips that can help to make your face look younger.

Water Intake

The body needs to be hydrated at all times and water is the most essential element in keeping the body hydrated, soft and healthy. Water should not be replaced with carbonated drinks, alcohol, or coffee. These drinks, however, dehydrate the skin and rob the skin of essential minerals.

On average a person should drink about 8-10 glasses of water daily to keep healthy and have a healthy, glowing skin. Water also helps to suppress your appetite, and get rid of waste material.

Sleep repairs

The body has time to repair itself when we are sleeping. When the body does not get enough sleep the skin becomes dull, dry and wrinkled. The under eyes get puffy and develop dark circles around them.

Sunglasses and Sunscreen

Sunglasses blocks out the harmful ultra violet rays of the sun and gives the eyes protection. Unprotected exposure to the sun causes wrinkles to develop.

As we age, our skin becomes thinner as a result of losing fat and increased appearance of wrinkles. Prolonged exposure also causes dryness, blotchiness, liver spots and sun related skin diseases. Make sure to purchase sunglasses with UV protection.

Another inexpensive way to prevent fine lines is with the use of sunscreen. Sunscreen helps to protect from the harmful rays of the sun. It is advisable to use a moisturizer with sun screen already in it to simplify things and get protection everyday all year round.

Quit Smoking

Smoking causes a number of diseases and contributes to wrinkles as well. It contradicts skin tissues from receiving oxygen and nutrients and causes wrinkles.

Anti-Aging Skin Care

Anti-wrinkle creams can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and age spots. The skin is moisturized even deep below the surface of the skin. It helps to keep the facial skin looking young and soft. When aging happens to be of concern to you then you should try the anti aging products and techniques that can make you look much younger than you are.

Ways to Look Younger

Ways to Look YoungerDon’t consider age a punishment; it really does sit very well on some people. Barring its effects on the body at times, aging can have many great advantages. Since we are kind of stuck with ourselves indefinitely, caring for our soul, mind, and body should be an ongoing process.

Method

First Step

Stay young at heart. You seem old when you act old. Act younger.

Hot cocoa contains flavones that aid the repair of the ravages of the sun. Try to have an eight ounce mug full daily, or a square ounce of dark cocoa with a minimum of 70% cocoa content. Phenyl ethylamine compound in cocoa enhances production of dopamine and serotonin. It increases oxytocin helping you to relax.

Second Step

A natural antidote to the thinning lips is cinnamon, which plumps up the lips immediately by aiding the dilation of the little blood vessels. Lip balms containing cinnamon are available.

There is some adverse publicity attached to soy products. This is misleading and there are several benefits to the consumer. Collagen production, which reduces wrinkles and sagging, is promoted by soy products such as tofu, soy nuts, and soy milk. Substitute your milk intake in coffee with soy milk.

Third Step

Seventy percent of our bodies are composed of water, which is essential for our wellbeing. Try to drink an eight ounce glassful of water a minimum of eight times a day. Smoothing the skin and giving it elasticity and a youthful appearance is the function of water.

Straight after your shower apply moisturizer on your skin daily. This keeps the moisture in and makes for smoother skin.

Fourth Step

The destructive action of free radicals can be reversed by Vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant. You can drink or eat your daily quota and even take a supplement. Vitamin C rich foods are:

Citrus and orange,
Guava,
Sweet red peppers,
Cabbage,
Broccoli,
Kiwi fruit,
Tomatoes,
Strawberries,
Cantaloupe

Sleeping on the side or your stomach causes facial wrinkles – sleep flat on your back. Eating nuts aid circulation. Vitamin E is abundant in almonds and sunflower seeds.

How to wax your legs

http://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl1/20/202586/46_2008/c12d44713e0cf0ec_a-leg-wax.jpgThere are a number of ways in which one can remove body hair, whether through shaving, waxing, threading or laser hair treatments. Waxing is one of the safest and most preferred methods of hair removal among women. Although it is a little painful, it has no adverse side effects
. Below are the steps involved in the removal of hair from the legs through waxing
.

Select a wax: First you have to select the product that you want to use. There are different kind of waxes and sugar solutions available on the market.

Instruction manuals are provided with the products. It is important that you carefully read the instructions, preferably more than once. Some waxes require that you heat them before using them. In such cases, be sure to follow the recommended heating time and methods.

Application of the wax: After heating the wax check its temperature. If it is too hot you might end up with heat burns. Before applying the wax, be sure that your legs are dry.

If waxing your legs for the first time, apply a thin layer of wax or sugar solution to a small area of the leg, following the direction of hair growth.

Removing the hair: After applying the wax to the area, press a strip of muslin to the leg. At the base of the strip, that side nearest to your foot, turn a small section back, turning it against the strip in such a way that it lies flat against the strip.

Raise the end of the strip as described in the instruction manual and pull the strip back towards you. Pulling the strip back is the correct method; do not pull the strip up.

This is when you might feel a little pain, and if you do, the pain should subside within a second or two. Remember that it is not necessary for all the hairs to be pulled out at one time. The procedure can be repeated if hairs remain in the area. Repeat this process as often as necessary until your leg is completely free of hair.

Brassage Bra Benefits

Brassage Bra BenefitsIt's a bra! It's a bustier! It's Healthy?!? That's right ladies (and gentleman if you really wanna go there :)) - get ready to be wowed - a bra that is good for you. First chocolate, now this - the world's getting better all the time. The nitty gritty: These bras were designed by a doctor and a lingerie designer who wanted to create underwear that benefitted the wearer.

True to form, these bras are organic cotton, latex free and include these amazing massaging bumps on the side under your armpit. Coincidentally, that's where the infamous lymph gland resides - and these bumps massage these glands as you move - improving circulation and encouraging a daily detox.

According to Dr. Jayson Sher, the Los Angeles-based chiropractor who invented the technology behind the Brassage, the cushions micro-massage the lymphatic vessels as a woman moves, making walking - even breathing - an opportunity to cleanse the system.

"A normal bra will hold the breasts in place and be pretty," said Sher, who worked on his patented LETflow (Lymphatic Enhancement Technology) for more than eight years before sharing it with Erteszek for use in the Brassage.

"This bra holds the breasts in place, is pretty, and also has a therapeutic process." Sher said the LETflow technology promotes healthy breast tissue by stimulating the lymph node beneath the armpit.

There are more than 500 lymph nodes throughout the body, all of which work as filters to trap and expel bacteria, viruses and other toxins.

Sher said massaging the lymph nodes can speed up the drainage process, which could potentially reduce the risk of breast disease.

"It's been medically and scientifically believed that toxins have an affinity toward affecting the DNA of cells," he said. "We do not say that this takes the place of regular examination or mammograms. It's just another weapon in the arsenal against breast disease."

How to look slim

How to look slimThere are times when you take a break from your sensible-eating and exercise regime and want to just lie back and enjoy all those forbidden foods. Well then you are bound to put on weight but until you have worked towards reducing the excess weight you can follow these few tips to look slim.

1. Stand comfortably erect and stick your stomach in. Good posture always makes you look slimmer.

2. Dark colours such as olive, black, charcoal grey, and navy help make areas appear smaller so wear them where you think you need it. For most women it's from the waist down.

3. Avoid shiny or heavily textured fabrics. Shiny fabrics reflect light, making any area appear larger. Heavily texture fabrics only add extra weight.

4. Sewn-down pleats in skirts and blouses can both create a slimming effect. Include vertical lines in your accessories, such as long chains worn around the neck.

5. Avoid extensive use of horizontal lines - belts, boat-collar blouses and border print skirts. These styles can add extra width to your body frame.

6. Your best asset is your face; so draw attention to it with scarves and jewellery worn around the face.

7. Introduce simple lines, such as A-line skirts, tailor-notched, collared blouses and blazers. The oversized blazer is a great solution for camouflaging large derrieres and hips. Double-pleated skirts and trousers mask protruding stomachs and provide comfort as well.

8. If you want to appear thinner incorporate dark, cool and dull colours and textures. Dull textures absorb the light like wool or cotton. Some very slimming colours include black, navy, olive, violet, charcoal grey, chocolate brown, plum, eggplant and burgundy.

How to Stop Bleeding Gums

Bleeding gums can be one sign of periodontal disease, gingivitis, or other serious problems. Other symptoms like bad breath, toothache, and receding gums indicate poor dental health.
Gum disease affects the tissues that surround and support the teeth. Bacteria affect the gum, which can turn into tartar and plaque buildup, irritate your gums and lead to bleeding and receding gums. Top quality oral hygiene cures bleeding gums.

Bleeding gums are also caused by the canker sores which are caused by the herpes simplex virus.

Aging is also a factor for bleeding gums. If you do not treat gums properly it may eventually lead to loss of teeth.

Early diagnoses of the bleeding gums are better and you can treat them so that there are no further complications.

Tooth loss is caused gum weakening. Many people are affected by gingivitis that is characterized by bleeding gums and swollen gums. This condition may also be painful for some people.

Folic acid tablets are also available in the medical stores for this purpose. Gums that bleed are not only unhealthy but are also unattractive. People who take care of their external looks should also concentrate on the bleeding gums. Consult a dentist if you have problems like toothache, canker sores, receding gums or excessive plaque.

Brushing teeth is such a routine that very few people think about it. The teeth are not getting brushed properly. All-natural, fluoride-free toothpaste should be used for brushing. While brushing your teeth along the gum line, angle your toothbrush at a 45-degree so it is up against your teeth and gums.

Then jiggle the toothbrush back and forth in small, round strokes. The correct motion is more like massaging along the gums line than brushing.

Adding 2 -3 drops of tea-tree oil to the toothpaste for brushing provides good teeth. You will have a longer fresh-breath feeling afterwards. Flossing daily is the best way to stop plaque from forming between teeth. When flossing is done on a daily basis as advised, bleeding will become less & less and soon gone. Flossing & scaling can reach and clean under the gum line effectively

3 Cool Tips to Stop Underarm Sweating

3 Cool Tips to Stop Underarm SweatingIt’s like a taboo topic that nobody wants to talk about—excessive underarm sweating, that is. Not that you can blame them. It’s not exactly a crowd pleaser and opening up such a topic might only lead other people to jump to conclusions.

However, excessive underarm sweating does happen. And if you’re one of those who are having a hard time coping with this condition, then you’ve definitely come to the right place. Read on to find out how to get rid of this embarrassing problem.

Excessive Underarm Sweating Solution # 1: Mind Over Matter

You know what they say… It’s all in the mind. When you’re feeling anxious or nervous, you tend to sweat a lot. So relax. If you find it hard to calm down, try any of these herbs: St. John’s Wort, lemon balm, catnip, chamomile, or passion flower.

If you’re stuck in a warm place, imagine yourself surrounded by ice. Thinking about how warm you feel will only serve to make your sweat glands perspire even more.

Excessive Underarm Sweating Solution # 2: Check Your Caffeine Intake

Yes, you read that right, coffee junkies. Caffeine is a stimulant and causes your body to sweat more (either because you’re hyper or experiencing tiny anxiety attacks). If you tend to drink more than two or three cups of coffee a day, try to cut back cup by cup.

Excessive Underarm Sweating Solution # 3: Train Your Body

When your body is used to being in an air-conditioned room, you’re bound to sweat more than those who don’t always use the air conditioner. If you really want your body to become more accustomed to a higher temperature, cut back on the air-con use. This is more of a tough love method, but it works.

Excessive underarm sweating can be pretty embarrassing. Even if nobody really notices or knows about your condition, feeling your sweat trickling down your chin and underarms - while you’re giving a report - isn’t exactly the best feeling in the world. So if you really want to control your sweat glands, I suggest trying out the above mentioned recommendations.

Black Skin Care Tips

Black Skin Care TipsBlack skin needs as much care as any other if it is to maintain its healthy and good looks.
The major of biological factor that separates black skin from white is the pigment called melanin. One good advantage of having large amounts of melanin in the skin is that the melanin protects black skin from the sun and from many of the ravages of sun-induced ageing. Nevertheless, a sunscreen with SPF should be applied daily to help protect against getting dark spots.

Unfortunately black skin is prone to acne eruption and the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. To keep your complexion glowing, cleanse your face twice a day using mild cleansers.

Choose a cleanser that suits your skin type. Favor products for sensitive skin, especially if your skin is dry — products with harsh ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid can do harm on certain skin types. Once you have found a cleanser that’s the proper Ph start using it in the morning and especially at night to remove the dirt. You shouldn’t use soaps on your face – they can be very harsh on your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin, using soap can dehydrate your skin as well.

Apply moisturizer after you have cleansed your skin in the morning. Nowadays a wide range of skin care products are specifically designed for the needs of black skin.
Use tonics – they remove the traces of makeup, dirt and oil that your cleanser may have missed.

Exfoliating is essential no matter what your skin type is. When exfoliating you remove the dead skin cells that block your pores and your skin becomes softer and smoother.
After exfoliating, apply a thick layer of facial mask “ this way you will receive best results. Leave the mask for several minutes and then rinse with water. It will cleanse your skin in deep and nourish it. It’s essential to protect black skin properly – apply a sunscreen every day with SPF at least 15, especially during the summer months. Avoid picking and squeezing the bumps otherwise you will end up with ugly marks on the face.

Many African-Americans are prone to acne. Acne is an inflammatory disease of the skin, that starts when oil and dead skin cells clog up the pores, the excessive secretion of oils form the sebaceous glands accompanies the plugging of the pores with naturally accruing dead skin cells blocking hair follicles. It may result in long lasting discoloration of the skin.

Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening

http://polls-4u.com/TeethWhiteningUS/images/teeth_whitening.jpgIn most cases, cheap toothpaste doesn't cut it. An expensive toothpaste is often needed for a brighter smile. Unfortunately, getting your teeth whitened professionally is not an option for everyone. If you want to forego the creams, bleaches, trays, and gels found in drugstores, you can take the natural approach and use any of the following home remedies for whiter teeth that are both cheap and effective.

Baking Soda: An old-time favorite, baking soda has many purposes, including tooth whitening. Most dentists agree that it's safe to use and works fairly quickly. You can use it alone on a damp toothbrush or mix it with toothpaste to help neutralize the salty taste.

Hydrogen Peroxide: One of the most popular home remedies, peroxide, is cheap and most people have it on hand. Chances are, you will feel some burning in your gums, but you'll be left with clean, whiter teeth. Typically, most people will see results within a couple of weeks but it can happen much sooner. It's also safe to gargle, but don't swallow.

Brush your teeth as you normally do, and then swish for about a minute. Follow up by spitting it out and rinsing thoroughly with water. Another way to use it is by dipping a cotton swap in the solution and gently rubbing it into your teeth, front and back.

Strawberries: Not many people are aware that strawberries contain natural teeth whitening agents and the seeds work great for cleaning. Since they also contain sugar and acids, it's important to brush immediately afterwards with a fluoride toothpaste. For easy and quick application, you can either rub the strawberry against your teeth, or mash it up and use it like toothpaste.

Wood Ash: Strange as it may sound, hard wood ash helps whiten teeth. It contains potassium hydroxide, a compound that will bleach your teeth. The tiny crystals scrape off plague in hard to reach places and will scrub them clean. However, using wood ash often or scrubbing too hard can wear down your tooth enamel, so it's best to avoid using it for long periods of time. To apply it to your teeth, you can put it directly on your toothbrush or mix it with a small amount of toothpaste.

Homemade tooth paste: One of the better home recipes for whiter teeth is a paste consisting of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, table salt and a dab of toothpaste. Mix it all together and brush away stains.

More Options for Whiter Teeth
You can combine any of the above ingredients with wood ash, strawberries, hydrogen peroxide or baking soda for some extra whitening power. Always clean the ingredients off of your teeth when you're finished by rinsing and brushing with commercial toothpaste.

Remember that teeth naturally have a yellowish tint because of calcium, and essential mineral for strong tooth enamel. Brushing too hard and using lemon juice, an acid, or any form of vitamin C will eat away the surface. Once your tooth enamel is ruined, it's permanent. Your teeth will be considerably weaker and much more prone to cavities. All home remedies should be used in moderation and monitored closely.
