Practise your whole look beforehand and check it out in the daylight as it will look completely different in artificial light. And take a picture so you can see if you are happy with the result.
Base: Start with a good control which will guarantee a shine-free complexion. Cover any blemishes with a concealer that is slightly lighter than your skin colour or your foundation. Always apply foundation with a sponge or brush. A damp sponge will give you a lighter base and a brush will give slightly heavier coverage. Choose a long-lasting foundation that won’t rub off.
Eyes: Stick to safe colours – browns, taupes and beiges. You can always add a touch of gold or silver under the brow or in the inner corner of your eyes if you want a bit of sparkle. Avoid bright blues and green – these will be too harsh, especially if you are wearing white or cream. Pick a palette of colours to add depth and shade.
Cheeks: Go for a powder rather than a cream blusher as it will last longer. To create the illusion of defined cheeks, apply blusher over the cheekbone and use a slightly darker shade just under the bone.
Lips: Stick to soft pink, peach or nude colours whatever your colouring. Lipstick is back in fashion so try Revlon’s Colour Stay Soft and Smooth in Natural Cashmere.
Others: Finally, decant some of your wedding scent into a small bottle so you can spritz throughout the day. Also pop in some blotting sheets which contain a small amount of powder and are perfect for dabbing off shine.
